My BeautyMNL Haul

Anyone who knows me personally would never peg me for a beauty or make-up enthusiast. I always had one of the plainest faces at school and work simply because I was too lazy to learn and I wasn’t as kikay as my other friends. However, I’ve recently been attempting to learn how to do my own make-up because I realised that as a woman of my age and as a person whose stress just shines through her face (lol), I need to at least know the basics to make myself look decent when the occasion calls for it.

I’ve collected a couple of essentials for my kit already like BB Creams, blush and lipstick, but I always find myself browsing for products to add to my newbie arsenal. I also like to shop for anything that can help with my acne and blemishes (sigh, still from my PCOS).

So would you imagine my surprise when I woke up one day and read an email from BeautyMNL asking me to give their site a test run? Insert shocked emoji here!

BeautyMNL is the No. 1 and biggest beauty site in the Philippines where Filipinas can discover something pretty and new everyday.

A major part of BeautyMNL is the Shop. This is where you can browse through a wide array of beauty and make-up products. The Shop also carries a good range of mommy-and-kid friendly products.

I’ve been on BeautyMNL several times before. I see their ads a lot in Facebook and I always enjoy browsing products in their Shop but never got around to purchasing anything yet.. until now!

It’s easy to navigate the website because you can view products through different categories or by brand. When you select an item to view, you get a detailed description of the product along with reviews from other users, which is something I really find helpful.

From browsing products to checking out and finalizing the purchase, the entire process was easy peasy. I used PayPal (as a personal preference because I want to protect my card information) and got prompt confirmation of my orders. I monitored my order through the Order Tracking section of my BeautyMNL account and I received my package within two business days.

Are you wondering what products I got?

My Visit to Perps Skin and Body Center (MedSpa)

Last month has been nothing short of crazy. I was recently promoted at my work-from-home job (hooraaay!) and I now handle a team of virtual assistants. With the added responsibilities came bundled added stress, I mean can you imagine being on your computer for eight hours straight? The first few weeks at my new post took a toll on my back, because I did not have a proper office chair to support it entirely.

So when I remembered that I had an invitation to try out the MedSpa services of the University of Perpetual Help DALTA Medical Center, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to de-stress and relax! A big shout out to Mommy Bloggers Philippines for making this possible.

I was scheduled to visit Perps Skin and Body Center just this Monday, November 23. It is part of the University of Perpetual Help DALTA Medical Center’s Wellness Complex, which is easy to spot along Alabang-Zapote Road, just across KFC Times. When you enter the Wellness Complex, the MedSpa is at the first door on the right.

My Brow Makeover at Brow Lounge Alabang

If there’s anything else I’m clueless about besides motherhood, that would be make up. No matter how many video tutorials I watch, I just suck at applying make up, especially doing brows. Earlier this year I overplucked my brows and looked ridiculous for the longest time, good thing I work from home otherwise I’d be forced to learn how to fill in my murdered brows, which I can assume would not go well.

So I grew out my brows for months and they turned into this hideous shapeless mess. I decided that I would finally have my brows done at one of those brow salons I’ve read about online. After a bit of research I learned that the brow salon closest to me is Brow Lounge in Festival Mall, Alabang. I decided to finally pay them a visit earlier today.

I was in a hurry today so I didn’t have time to stop and carefully compose my photos. I just stole some shots as I was going through the salon. Typical me.

When I arrived the salon had just opened. It was clean and the ambiance was very welcoming. The staff who assisted me at the reception area was Rhea, she had me sign up and in a few minutes she ushered me into the salon.

Review: Human Nature’s Balm for All Seasons

This is not a paid review. The product was a personal purchase and this post is my honest opinion of Human Nature’s Balm for All Seasons.

I’m the type of person who always needs balms when on the go – I easily get dizzy and and a whiff of menthol always helps me feel better. I used to always carry Chinese menthol sticks that my mom used to buy me and I admit sniffing on them all the time when I was pregnant without even knowing what’s in them! Yikes!

So when I spotted Human Nature’s Balm for All Seasons in a nearby supermarket, I threw a box right into the cart without even checking the price. When they rang it at the cashier I realized it only cost P99.75, not bad!

“One whiff is all it takes to get you hooked. Breathe in the goodness and let the good vibes from this mint balm soothe away the tensions of your daily hectic lifestyle. With an infusion of peppermint, eucalyptus, and bergamot, let this all-around wonder balm help relieve stress, mental fatigue, dizziness, body aches, and even skin boo-boos.” –from the Human Nature website

Would you believe that I have already been through four pots of this stuff since December? Let me tell who why I love Human Nature’s Balm for All Seasons.

My First Zalora Shopping Experience

In September of last year (this is a way overdue post, by the way), I received a voucher for Zalora Philippines and I decided to use it to treat myself to a new pair of shoes. I don’t think anyone has not heard of Zalora – their ads are everywhere on the internet. But for the sake of those who don’t have a clue, Zalora is one of the biggest online shopping websites in the Philippines (and in other Asian countries) that carries a wide array of fashion items – clothes, shoes, accessories, beauty products – they’ve got it all. Let me share with you my first Zalora shopping experience and haul!

One day while randomly browsing the Zalora Philippines website I came across a nice pair of espadrilles from Spring Fling that happened to be on sale. I needed a pair of shoes for when I don’t feel like wearing sandals, or when my nails are a mess, and I thought espadrilles would be perfect – they’re comfy and they match my style. I’m not used to buying shoes online, so even when I found that they had my size (size 8) I checked, double checked and triple checked the size chart and my feet to make sure I was getting the right size.

I still had a few pesos to spare, so I decided to buy myself a new wallet and lipstick, too. I found this awesome wallet from Effegi and what I love about it is it has multiple compartments to help me keep everything organized – especially receipts. I also bought my mom a nice shawl for her trip to Japan and a bottle of LA Colors nail polish, because her regular manicurista has a depressing selection of nail polish- mostly shades that suit only Morticia Adams. Haha!

After several clicks here and there, I finalized the items in my cart and entered the voucher code – let’s just say I only needed to pay less than half of the original total of all the items – pretty sweet, huh? I was thrilled to find out that they accept Cash on Delivery as a payment option because I don’t have a credit card (out of preference, lol). So after completing my order I received an email confirmation and it said it may take a few days for me to receive it – I’m based in the province after all.

Can you imagine my surprise when a package arrived for me the very next day at nine o’clock in the morning?

I seriously did not expect it to arrive so fast! My packages from online transactions usually take two days, but this arrived the very next morning! All I had to do was settle the payment with the delivery guy and I received my first ever Zalora haul.
